Our Story: A Tradition of Southern Comfort
For over 32 years, Kountry Kitchen Soul Food Place has been serving some of the best soul food in the Midwest. Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, this beloved spot is known for its down-home recipes, including fried chicken wings, savory pork chops, and refreshing lemonade. It all started in 1988, when Ms. Jessie opened a six-seat diner to share her southern cooking with her neighborhood.

As the business grew, Ms. Jessie’s daughter, Nell, joined in, adding her own well-loved recipes to the menu. Kountry Kitchen became a true family affair, blending generations of cooking traditions into a place where everyone felt welcome. Today, Isaac & Cynthia Wilson and their family continue that legacy, serving the same beloved recipes while expanding the menu with more southern favorites—all made from scratch with care.

For over 16 years, we’ve come together with the help of dedicated volunteers to give back—especially during the holidays. Every Christmas, we organize special gatherings for those in need, including one memorable year where we served over 3,000 meals. It’s more than a tradition—it’s a shared effort to spread warmth, kindness, and support throughout our community.
